加拿大移民部长Ahmed Hussen在首都渥太华宣布加拿大留学移民最新政策：“加拿大公民新法案（Bill C-6）通过加拿大留学移民最新政策了，将于2017年10月11日起正式生效”。
Ahmed Hussen表示：“加拿大政府一直致力于为想要获得加拿大公民身份加拿大留学移民最新政策的永久居民，提供更容易加拿大留学移民最新政策的程序和更多的灵活性。”

即将于10月11日生效的新政如下：
居住时间由原来的6年内住满4年（1,460天)，降低到5年内住满3年（1,095天）加拿大留学移民最新政策；
Applicants must be physically present in Canada for three out of five years before applying for citizenship.
报税记录由原来的6年内有4年报税记录，降低到5年内有3年报税记录；
Applicants must file Canadian income taxes, if required to do so under the Income Tax Act, for three out of five years, matching the new physical presence requirement.
取消“其中4年内每年至少住满183天”的规定；
Applicants had to be physically present in Canada for 183 days in four out of the six years preceding their application.This provision is repealed. Applicants no longer have to meet this requirement.
之前在加拿大留学、工作、难民的居住时间可折算50%，最多可折算1年（365天）；
Applicants may count each day they were physically present in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person before becoming a permanent resident as a half-day toward meeting the physical presence requirement for citizenship, up to a maximum credit of 365 days.
入籍考试和语言要求的年龄由原来的14-64岁，修改为18-54岁（不再要求14-17岁和54岁以上的申请人参加入籍考试，加拿大入籍的语言要求是听和说达到CLB4级<雅思4分>）。
Applicants between 18 and 54 years must meet the language and knowledge requirements for citizenship.
加拿大作为移民国家，入籍要求的收紧被认为是不利于经济发展的举措。移民组织一直表示，收紧入籍要求不利于新移民融入和参加选举。
移民部长Hussan也认为：入籍是移民融入加拿大的最后一步。前政府设置的那些不必要的障碍是在损害我们这个国家。
同时部长也指出：入籍的条件放宽后移民部会确保配备资源能够应对增加的申请个案。
他还表示：入籍申请费用没有变化，成人$630元，18岁以下未成年人$100元。
